About Cubley Village Hall
The hall is also known as The Mary Clowes Hall, Cubley and was a generous gift from the will of Mary Clowes, whose parents owned the Cubley estate at the time. She died in the early 1930s from leukaemia when she herself was only in her early twenties. It is believed that the hall cost around £500 to build. It was officially opened on Thursday January 31st, 1935, by Lady Storrs (Mary’s mother) and Mr Legh Clowes (her brother) and has been at the centre of village life ever since.
